=Steps to apply for admission into the Taylor's Postgraduate Research Programmes:


 
Step 1: Check your qualifications for admission
Master of Science
Entry Requirement
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Science with minimum of CGPA 2.75 with research project component in related field or 2 years working experience in Science related industry
    OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75, candidates will be subjected to rigorous internal assessment
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of condition of the above would require student’s research proposal to be approved by School Postgraduate Committee
Master of Science (Engineering)
Entry Requirement
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Science or Technology with minimum CGPA 2.75
    OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Science or Technology with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75, candidates will be subject to rigorous internal assessment
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of condition of the above would require student’s research proposal to be approved by School Postgraduate Committee
Master of Science (Tourism)
Entry Requirement
  • A Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with minimum CGPA 2.75
    OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75, candidates will be subject to rigorous internal assessment
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of condition of the above would require student’s research proposal to be approved by School Postgraduate Committee
Master of Philosophy (Pharmacy)
Entry Requirement
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 as accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75 can be accepted subject to a minimum of 2 years working experience in a relevant field
    AND
  • Candidate must be a Registered Pharmacist to pursue research in clinical subjects.
    AND
  • Any condition of the above would require student’s research proposal to be approved by School Postgraduate Committee
Master of Philosophy (Pharmaceutical Sciences)
Entry Requirement
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy / relevant science discipline with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 as accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy / relevant science discipline with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75 can be accepted subject to a minimum of 2 years working experience in a relevant field
    AND
  • Any condition of the above would require student’s research proposal to be approved by School Postgraduate Committee
PhD Programmes
Entry Requirement (applies to all PhD programmes)
  • Master in related discipline
    OR
  • Passed Bachelor’s degree with minimum CGPA 3.76 and registered as a Masters candidate and passed related qualifying assessment
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of condition of the above would require student’s research proposal to be approved by School Postgraduate Committee

English Language Requirements (For all postgraduate programmes)
Students must include supporting evidence of English proficiency if the first language is not English, or if the undergraduate degree was not taught entirely in the English language. The supporting evidence can be fulfilled in one of the following forms:
  • International English Language Test (IELTS)
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
  • Malaysian University English Test (MUET)
  • Taylor’s Intensive English Programme
  • Taylor’s English Entrance Test
 
Step 2: Identify your potential supervisor
  • You should have a clear idea of what potential areas of research that interests you and what you want to do during your candidature.
  • You should prepare a brief research proposal before making the initial enquiry.
  • Discuss your brief research proposal with the postgraduate coordinator in the respective School. Share with them your research interest, academic background and your prior research experience.
  • The School's postgraduate coordinator will be able to identify your potential supervisor or research group.
  • Discuss with your potential supervisor. He/she will want to make sure you have a well-defined research topic, that your project will make an original contribution to knowledge or understanding, and to ensure you will be able to complete your proposed project successfully within your candidature.
 
Step 3: Refine your research proposal
  • You have to refine your research proposal as advised by your potential supervisor.
  • You need to give some thought to the research project so that you have sufficient knowledge and training to undertake the research.
  • The research proposal of three or more pages should address the following:
    • Background and brief literature review on the research topic
    • Objective of study
    • Research Methodology
    • Proposed work schedule (schedule of activities)
    • Equipment required (where applicable)
    • Brief references and bibliography
 
Step 4: Submit your application
Application can be lodged at any time of the year. In order for an application to be assessed, it is important students submit all required documents. This includes:  
For Malaysian Applicants
  • Submit supporting documents
    • Certified true copies of Bachelor/Master degree certificates and transcripts (attached English translation if transcripts are in a foreign language)
    • One (1) certified true copy of identity card (NRIC)
    • Two (2) passport size photographs
    • Research Proposal
    • Curriculum vitae / resume
    • Employer testimonial / Letters of recommendation either from the current/former employer and/or from a faculty member who is able to evaluate the applicant's potential for success in the programme
    • Candidates who completed their degree in a language other than English may be required to submit evidence of English competency
    • Certified true copy of letter of scholarship/sponsorship (if applicable)
  • Payment of non-refundable Application fee of RM250 (payable by cheque, cash or credit card) for assessment. Bank details are stated in the Postgraduate Application Form.
 
For International Applicants
  • Submit supporting documents
    • Three (3) copies of academic certificates and transcripts (CERTIFIED TRUE COPY)
    • Three (3) copies of original passport including BLANK pages (CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES) and ensure passport has a minimum of fifteen (15) months validity
    • Six (6) passport-sized photographs with white background (3.5 cm (W) x 4.5 cm (H))
    • Curriculum vitae / resume
    • Candidates who completed their degree in a language other than English may be required to submit evidence of English competency
    • Employer testimonial / Letters of recommendation either from the current/former employer and/or from a faculty member who is able to evaluate the applicant's potential for success in the programme (if applicable)
    • Certified true copy of letter of scholarship/sponsorship (if applicable)
    • Pre-Arrival Health Examination Report (optional)
  • Payment of non-refundable Application fee of RM250/USD88
  • Upon acceptance into the programme, payment of International Student Charge of RM2,625/USD700 (payable by telegraphic transfer or bank draft) will be required for visa processing.  Bank details are stated in the Postgraduate Application Form.

Visa application
Malaysian Immigration Department requires 6 - 8 working weeks to process student visa application. Taylor's International Office will assist international applicants in submitting the necessary application for student visa, upon approval of their application for admission into the Master's programme and issuance of Letter of Acceptance
