Centre for Engineering Research and Development (CERD)

To contribute to sustainable development of humankind in the 21st century.

To support students and staff in carrying out advanced research that are mapped to 14 Grand Challenges (GCs).

School of Engineering (SoE) has a tradition of active contribution and involvement in research and development activities. This is the first school outside the US that is recognised for its Grand Challenge Scholars Program by the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), US. SoE is aiming at contributing to solutions for the 14 GCs identified by NAE which provide a sustainable development in the 21st century. CERD was established to streamline and enhance such research undertakings and act as a platform for those who are interested to innovate and carry out engineering research mapped to GCs through five (5) active research groups.

CERD currently publishes the Journal of Engineering Science and Technology (JESTEC) that is a Scopus indexed journal here.
