Associate Professor Dr. Ramachandran Ponnan Awarded Personaliti Za’ba Award From RTM

At the recent “Malam Apprisiasi Veteran RTM” organised by RTM for its former staff, Associate Professor Dr. Ramachandran Ponnan, senior lecturer at Taylor’s School of Communication, who was previously Head of Research & Development at RTM, was awarded the Personaliti Za’ba Award.

Dr. Ramachandran was acknowledged for his active contributions in education and broadcasting. A passionate broadcaster, he continues to share his knowledge with staff of RTM and his students at Taylor’s University after retiring from RTM in 2007. He is also contributing to society through his research work, publication in academic journals and paper presentation at seminars and conferences nationally and internationally.

The award was named after Za’ba, who was a ‘Pendita’ (scholar) known for his pioneering contribution to education in this country. Za’ba has also contributed to the development of Radio Malaya. Personaliti Za’ba is one of the six awards given out at the ceremony, which was graced by Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin Abdul Rahman. Other award recipients include Dato’ Faridah Merican and Dato’ Johari Salleh.

Dr Ramachandran Ponnan received a trophy, RM1,000 cash, a certificate as well as other gifts.
