Over the years, many Taylor’s American Degree Transfer Programme (ADP) students have transferred to Drake University in Iowa (USA). Drake is a well-regarded private university in the Midwest, and is highly-regarded for its supportive learning environment, affordability, and liberal arts approach to pre-professional undergraduate education. Professor S. Alexander is the Associate Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, and has previously visited Taylor’s University in 2016 with a group of other senior staff from Drake University .

He said that, “he was pleased to be back at Taylor’s University and to re-connect with staff and students”. Prof Alexander has been at Drake University for over 20-years, and teaches a wide variety of courses, and has an extensive range of research publications. He spent two weeks at Taylor’s University sharing his research interests, meeting with ADP lecturers, and teaching calculus to ADP students. The Visiting Professor Program (VPP) was initiated by the Taylor’s ADP in 2015, and has seen a variety of academics from well-established US universities provide guest lectures to Taylor’s students on a variety of topics. He was the first of the VPP’s for 2018, “which marks the strong relationships that exists between Taylor’s ADP and our partner US institutions” said Ms. Prema Ponnudurai, the ADP Program Director, who added that “this initiative focuses on helping our students transition into American universities, and contributes to their overall academic success well after they have left our doors”.

Prof Alexander also met with the Deputy Vice Chancellor and other senior staff of Taylor’s University to explore additional opportunities for furthering our collaboration between the two institutions.
