Taylor's Professor Contributes to Panel of Top Tourism Editors in Germany

Professor Perry Hobson, PVC for Global Engagement, has also been the Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Vacation Marketing (JVM) for over 16-years. Publishing in highly-ranked research journals has become increasingly important issue for research focused academics, and from time-to-time some conferences offer an opportunity for a dialogue between researchers and the editors of leading journal. The eighth annual Consumer Behaviour in Tourism Symposium (CBTS) was recently held at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich (Germany).

As part of this year's CBTS symposium, a "Panel of Tourism Editors" session was organised by Professor Bill Gartner from the University of Minnesota (USA). The invited panelists were editors of leading international tourism journals, and included: Professor Geoff Crouch, from La Trobe University (Australia), who is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Travel Research (JTR); Bernard Lane, Founder and Co-Editor of the Journal of Sustainable Tourism (JOST); and also Professor Perry Hobson, from Taylor's University, in his role as the Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Vacation Marketing (JVM). Professor Bill Gartner opened the session speaking about "Criteria For Success: Publishing in Leading Peer Review Journals" and the three panelists then addressed a wide range of issues relating to the review process, how authors need to deal with critical reviews, trends in research methodologies, editorial review boards and how to develop publications from PhD thesis. Professor Perry Hobson pointed out that "while there are clearly certain research 'trends' that can be observed - I am also always interested to hear from contributing authors who take new and novel approaches to tourism marketing and who also are willing to focus on under-researched areas".

JVM is published by Sage in London, and is ranked as an "A journal" (which puts it in the top 20% of all business journals) by the Australian Business Deans Council. For more information about the Journal of Vacation Marketing, click here.
