Steps to apply for admission into the Taylor's Postgraduate Research Programmes:


 
Step 1: Check your qualifications for admission
  •  You may check the entry requirements of the programme that you wish to apply here:
Master of Science
Entry Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science with CGPA 2.75  recognized by the Malaysian Government, with research project component in related field or 2 years working experience in Science related industry
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75 recognized by the Malaysian Government, candidates will be subjected to rigorous internal assessment
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with CGPA between 2.00 to 2.50 recognized by the Malaysian Government, with a minimum of 5 years related working experience
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of the above condition would require student’s research proposal to be approved by the respective School
Master of Science in Engineering
Entry Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Science or Technology with CGPA 2.75  recognized by the Malaysian Government
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Science or Technology with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75 recognized by the Malaysian Government, candidates will be subjected to rigorous internal assessment
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Science or Technology with CGPA between 2.00 to 2.50 recognized by the Malaysian Government, with a minimum of 5 years related working experience
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of the above condition would require student’s research proposal to be approved by the respective School
Master of Science (Tourism)
Entry Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with CGPA 2.75 recognized by the Malaysian Government
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75 recognized by the Malaysian Government, candidates will be subjected to rigorous internal assessment
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with CGPA between 2.00 to 2.50 recognized by the Malaysian Government, with a minimum of 5 years related working experience
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of the above condition would require student’s research proposal to be approved by the respective School
Master of Philosophy (Pharmacy)
Entry Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy with CGPA 2.75 recognized by the Malaysian Government
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75 recognized by the Malaysian Government, with a  minimum of 2 years related working experience
    OR
  • Candidate must be a Registered Pharmacist to pursue research in clinical subjects
    AND
  • Any of the above condition would require student’s research proposal to be approved by the respective School
Master of Philosophy (Pharmaceutical Sciences)
Entry Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy / relevant science discipline with CGPA 2.75 recognized by the Malaysian Government
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy / relevant science discipline with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75 recognized by the Malaysian Government, with a  minimum of 2 years related working experience
    AND
  • Any of the above condition would require student’s research proposal to be approved by the respective School
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programmes
Doctor of Philosophy (Business) & Doctor of Philosophy (Education)
 
Entry Requirement
  • Masters in the related discipline
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of the above condition would require student’s research proposal to be approved by the respective School
Doctor of Philosophy (Science), Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering), Doctor of Philosophy (Hospitality & Tourism)
 
Entry Requirement
  • Masters in the related discipline
    OR
  • Passed  Bachelor’s Degree with CGPA 3.67 and registered as a Masters candidate and passed related qualifying assessment 
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of the above condition would require student’s research proposal to be approved by the respective School

Doctor of Philosophy (Pharmaceutical Sciences)
 
Entry Requirement
  • Masters in Pharmacy or relevant science discipline
    OR
  • Passed  relevant Bachelor’s Degree with CGPA 3.67 and registered as a Masters candidate and achieve outstanding performance in research and passed related qualifying assessment
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of the above condition would require student’s research proposal to be approved by the respective School

English Language Requirements (For all Postgraduate programmes)
Students must include supporting evidence of English proficiency if the first language is not English, or if the undergraduate and / or postgraduate degree was not taught entirely in the English language. The supporting evidence can be fulfilled in one of the following forms:

    • International English Language Test (IELTS)
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
    • Malaysian University English Test (MUET)
    • Taylor’s Intensive English Programme
  • You may check the eligibility to apply for scholarships by referring to the page ‘Postgraduate Funding’
  • You may also consider making an enquiry with Postgraduate - Enrolment & Advisory Services via email (postgraduate@taylors.edu.mywith the documents below for advises on eligibility for admission & scholarship:
    • Curriculum vitae / resume
    • Academic certificates [Bachelor’s Degree and / or Master’s Degree Certificate] 
    • Academic Transcripts [Bachelor’s Degree and / or Master’s Degree Transcript]
Step 2: Identify your Research Area
  • You should have a clear idea of the potential areas of research that interests you
  • In case, if you are not sure, you may refer to the page ‘Key Research Areas’ to choose the area of study that is of interest to you.
  • You should prepare a brief  research proposal
  • The Research Proposal of three or more pages must address the following:
    • Background and brief literature review on the research topic
    • Objective of study
    • Research Methodology
    • Proposed work schedule (schedule of activities)
    • Equipment required (where applicable)
    • Brief references and bibliography
Step 3: Identify your potential supervisor
  • You may identify your potential supervisor using ‘Find the Experts’ page and you may directly submit your pre-admission documents as stated in step 5.
  • You also have the option to follow step 4, ‘Refine your research proposal’, if you wish to.
  • In case, if you are not able to identify a potential supervisor, you may directly move to step 5, ‘Submit Pre-admission documents’ for supervisor allocation.
Step 4: Refine your research proposal (Optional) 
  • You may contact your potential supervisor to consult him/ her on your intent to work with him/her on the area of your choice.
  • You have to refine your research proposal as advised by the potential supervisor, if there is a need.
Step 5: Submit Pre-admission documents
  • You may submit pre-admission documents (indicated below) to Postgraduate - Enrolment & Advisory Services via email (postgraduate@taylors.edu.my) for checking the eligibility for admission & scholarship and supervisor allocation. 
  • Pre-admission documents include:
    • Proposal
    • Curriculum vitae / resume
    • Academic Certificate [Academic certificates [Bachelor’s Degree and / or Master’s Degree Certificate] 
    • Academic Transcripts [Bachelor’s Degree and / or Master’s Degree Transcript]
  • Postgraduate - Enrolment & Advisory Services will advise you accordingly for admission and scholarship application.
Step 6: Submit your application
  • Once your research proposal is accepted and supervisor is confirmed, you may proceed to submit your Application.
  • Application can be submitted at any time of the year. In order for an application to be assessed, it is important that you submit all the required documents. Which includes: For Malaysian Applicants
    • Submit supporting documents
      1. Certified true copies of Bachelor Degree and /  or Master Degree certificates and transcripts (attached English translation if transcripts are in a foreign language)
      2. One (1) certified true copy of identity card (NRIC)
      3. Two (2) passport size photographs
      4. Research Proposal
      5. Curriculum vitae / resume
      6. Two (2) Academic Referee’s Report
      7. One (1) Addendum
      8. Certified true copy of letter of scholarship / sponsorship (if applicable)
      9. Candidate who completed their degree in a language other than English, is required to submit evidence of English competency
      10. Application Fee payment of RM 250.00 (Non-refundable)

    For International Applicants
    • Submit supporting documents
      1. Three (3) copies of certified true copies of Bachelor’s Degree and / or Master Degree certificates and transcripts (attached English translation if transcripts are in a foreign language)
      2. Three (3) copies of passport including BLANK pages, kindly ensure your passport has a minimum of fifteen (15) months validity
      3. Seven (7) passport-sized photographs with white background (3.5 cm (W) x 4.5 cm (H))
      4. Research Proposal
      5. Curriculum vitae / resume
      6. Two (2) Academic Referee’s Report
      7. One (1) Addendum
      8. Certified true copy of letter of scholarship / sponsorship (if applicable)
      9. Candidates who completed their degree in a language other than English is required to submit evidence of English competency
      10. Application Fee payment of RM 250.00 / USD 71 (Non-refundable)
    Upon acceptance into the programme, International student is required to submit the following documents for student visa application;
    • Pre-arrival Health Examination Report (Click here to download)
    • Payment of RM2,625/USD750 (EMGS Visa Application + Hospitalization and Surgical Insurance Fee + Part of International Student Enrolment Fee) will be required for visa processing (Non-refundable)

    Visa application
    Malaysian Immigration Department requires 6 - 8 working weeks to process student visa application. Taylor's International Office will assist international applicants in submitting the necessary application for student visa, upon approval of their application for admission into the postgraduate programme and issuance of Letter of Offer
