BizPod offers a general course on Entrepreneurialism to all Taylor's University students that funnels into few main modules.
These modules introduces students to the theory and practice of entrepreneurship. It focuses specifically on how and why some innovations are successfully commercialized, with particular emphasis on the role of the innovator-entrepreneur, with specific reference to science & technology driven innovation.
This module will equip students with an understanding of the values underpinning entrepreneurialism and engender an entrepreneurial mind-set, inspiring them to adopt entrepreneurial behaviours, including creativity and innovation, problem-solving skills, manage risks, overcome challenges, and cope with failures.
This module covers many business concepts but does not assume or require prior business knowledge or experience. The course will mix and match lectures with debates, discussions and workshops by the students as well as leaders in the field. This Ideation modules will introduces students to entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, idea generation, opportunity recognition, elevator pitches, idea evaluation and industry, market, and competitive analysis.
Startup is an introductory course for entrepreneurs who may not have formal business experience, but are interested in the steps involved in creating a business of their own. The course covers legal questions, incorporation, development of a business plan, identifying sources of financing, planning a budget, marketing the product, identifying competitors, and much more.
The Entrepreneurship Accelerator Project is a capstone module that requires students to integrate all their learnings and to demonstrate their competency in applying the knowledge acquired throughout the past semesters. The capstone module provides a platform for students to experiment and experientially learn from their projects. Students are required to demonstrate professional and entrepreneurship competency, and in doing so gain life-long skills and prepare them for the working environment.
This module is for students who wish to learn the principles and processes of small business and entrepreneurship. It is designed for individuals interested in starting a new business venture, acquiring an existing business, or working in industries that serve entrepreneurs. The module provides an overview of the many principles and processes of entrepreneurship and small business management. The module has adopted a project in collaboration with Nescafe Youth Entrepreneurship Programme (NYEP).
Business Consulting is a module that provides an understanding of the business consultancy process from early stage relationship building and organizational diagnosis through implementation, coaching and review. This includes the development of process mapping, report writing, and other key consultancy skills. Students will develop interpersonal skills in order to foster team and client relationships, creative thinking and communication skills.
Design Thinking is a module that provides basic assumption of innovation that occurs at the intersection of the three equal factors: human, technology and economy. The design thinking approach is “human-centered”, and it’s a process that starts with the people you’re designing for and ends with new solutions that are tailor made to suit their needs. Like the scientific method, design thinking can be applied to a broad set of opportunities and challenges.
This is an experiential learning experience to all the students to run a Nescafe pop up café as a stand-alone business.
