Date: 13 May 2020
Time: 12 - 1 pm
Venue: Online Zoom Webminar

This upcoming session titled Blaming others: Stigma in Malaysia and Indonesia amidst COVID-19, will be a presentation based on a comparative study between Twitter users in Indonesia and Malaysia on stigmas formed around COVID-19 in both these countries.

The study found that the central stigma in Indonesia was 'labeling' while in Malaysia, it was 'responsibility' of the religious group amid the pandemic. Although differing primary stigmas, Twitter conversations in both countries inclined to place blame on other actors as the cause of the COVID-19 pandemic.
