This research seminar provides an in depth understanding on rice gene/genome characterisation and manipulation of genes to increase the yield and reduce vulnerability of rice cultivars. Besides, QTL (Quantitative Trait Loci) potentials and applications will be shared by our eminent Professor of University Kebangsaan Malaysia, Prof Wickneswary Ratnam. She was the project leader of the grant ‘Identification of yield related QTLs and genes for improvement of Malaysian rice cultivars’. Her years of experience and cross-disciplinary collaborative projects with local and international scientists have enabled her to develop low GI Rice that aims to address our growing concern for diabetic and related issues in Malaysia and globally.
