Intellectual property is a category of property that includes intangible creations of the human intellect. The best-known types are copyrights, patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. The main purpose of intellectual property law is to encourage the creation of a wide variety of intellectual goods and grants property rights to the information and intellectual goods created which gives economic incentive for their creation, because it allows people to benefit from the information and intellectual goods they create, and allows them to protect their ideas and prevent copying. Meanwhile, commercialisation is the process of introducing a new product or production method into commerce by making it available on the market. The term often connotes especially entry into the mass market (as opposed to entry into earlier niche markets), but it also includes a move from the laboratory into commerce.

By the end of this webinar, the participants will get deeper insight and knowledge on different types of intellectual property and which types of intellectual property that are suitable for their idea and research. Also, the participants will acquire valuable knowledge on different strategies of commercialisation to turn their idea into a profitable business.
