Dear Students,
Lakeside Campus Reopening 20 July 2020.
I am writing to you to let you know that the Government has announced that universities and colleges can now open their campuses in a phased and controlled way. Taylor’s University and Taylor’s College will restart face to face teaching for most students at the Lakeside Campus from Monday 20 July 2020 onwards.
The reopening of the Campus is subject to a temporary restriction allowing no more than 30% of the total student population to be present on campus at any time, until full reopening in October 2020. This will mean providing detailed timetables for each separate student group, including arrival and departure times for being on campus. This information will be provided separately to each student group by their Faculty Executive Deans and by the Campus Director of Taylor’s College.
Reopening is also subject to adequate social distancing and hygiene arrangements being in place for the safety of staff and students.
In order to make the reopening of the Campus within the 30% occupancy and complying with social distancing guidelines, some teaching, such as lectures, will continue to be delivered online. In some programmes, where international students are unable to return to campus on time, we will continue to deliver the classes online for these students.
We are equally pleased that MOHE has announced that new and current international students have been allowed to return to Malaysia to attend classes on campus. However, they must register with EMGS before being permitted to enter Malaysia by the Immigration authorities. International students are required to undergo Covid-19 screening before entry into Malaysia. They will also undergo similar health screening by the Ministry of Health, Malaysia upon entry into the country and must self-quarantine for 14 days in their residence. The detailed procedure will be sent to all international students who are currently overseas, once we receive them from MOHE/EMGS.
I hope it will not be too long before the University and College can fully get back to normal but, in the meantime, all my colleagues are looking forward to welcoming you back to the Lakeside.
Yours sincerely,
Professor Michael Driscoll
Vice Chancellor & President of Taylor’s University
