SOPs for Returnees from Sabah and Covid-19 Red Zones

Dear Taylorians,

SOPs for returnees from Sabah and Covid-19 red zones

In the light of the growing number of Covid-19 cases in Sabah, the Ministry of Higher Education has requested that Higher Education Institutions postpone face-to-face learning and registration for all new and existing students from Covid-19 red zones in the country.

These red zones are:

Registration and learning for affected students will be conducted online.

The government has also mandated that all staff and students coming back from Sabah from 27 September to 10 October must undergo a Covid-19 test and serve a 14-day home quarantine order. Please note that failure to comply will result in legal repercussions.

Students, staff and visitors who returned from Sabah between 13 to 26 September, or are currently in close contact with someone who has returned from Sabah recently, are to indicate this information in the Health Declaration Form by Taylor’s University. If you fall within this category, you are strongly encouraged to quarantine yourself in your own homes and refrain from coming to campus in the 2 weeks after returning from Sabah.

Students are encouraged to log on to their module sites via TIMeS (learning management system) for information about teaching and learning sessions. Be assured that any student affected by the recent quarantine orders will be able to continue their learning online. Do reach out to your programme directors and lecturers if you have further enquiries.

I would like to take this opportunity to applaud each one of you for adapting very quickly in the light of new information and regulations, as the University does its best to ensure learning continuity for our students.

The war on Covid-19 is not over – as we move forward in the new normal, let us all play our part to ensure our communities stay safe and healthy.

Yours sincerely,

Prof Michael Driscoll
Vice Chancellor and President
