Top 5 Pancake Recipes to Try

In conjunction with World Pancake Day on 5 March, let’s get busy in the kitchen and try creating pancake recipes you’d probably never thought of putting together… until now. After all, why settle for just fluffy pancakes right? Here are some inspirations we found:

#1: The Nasi Lemak Pancake

Inspired by a limited edition pancake recipe offered by Pancake House, Mid Valley Megamall, this recipe is the best representation of what Malaysians love the most: Nasi Lemak; but with a pancake twist. Strange, right? Try it and let us know what you think:

First, the highlight of this plot twist is the creation of the pandan pancake.

Meanwhile, prepare the side dishes as you would for a regular nasi lemak – just without the rice.

Once all essential ingredients are prepared, it is time to assemble.

Grab a slice of pancake and spread a generous amount of sambal on it. Not before topping it off with slices of cucumber and finishing it off with another slice of pandan pancake.

Decorate your plate with side dishes such as fried anchovies, fried peanuts, eggs and of course, more sambal.

#2 Deep Fried or Fried Pancakes

We love all things deep fried and fried. What happens when we do that to our pancakes? And as it turns out, it looks suspiciously like yau char kueh:

#3 Rainbow Pancakes

Sometimes, nothing makes us happier than to see so many colours in our favourite food. Instead of baking yourself the trendier rainbow cake, try the same rendition in pancakes and watch how it brighten up your day.

Don’t you just wish to indulge in guilt-free pancakes sometimes? Here is the perfect recipe for you. Not only are these pancakes gluten-free, they are made out of 100% oat flour, fat-free buttermilk, and applesauce too? Now, you can have second helpings or a third.

#5 Hot Chocolate Pancakes

What could be a cup of hot chocolate when you wake up in the morning? If it’s made into a pancake, of course! Just add lots of creamy, rich chocolate onto your pancakes and top them up with sticky marshmallows. This would be a great start for the day.

Give it a try and we hope you have lots of fun on this World Pancake Day!
