These short courses are designed to give an edge to those in various roles including business owners, SME directors, managers, executives, media graduates, copywriters, brand developers, and advertising & PR managers. 

COURSES

RISK MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION

SYNOPSIS

This MicroCreds course is designed for SMEs Directors, Administrative Managers, Human Resource Managers, executives and business owners. Participants will be guided to identify and manage risks in today’s volatile world. The course will cover aspects on risk management which will include risk strategies and riskmonitoring, and on effective risk communication to various stakeholders and media. The teaching pedagogy emphasises on student-centred learning with activities prepared to facilitate the understanding of this course. All given activities and tasks are expected to be completed on a weekly basis as the course moves from topic to topic. The self-directed learning approach for this online course comprise of asynchronous lectures, blended learning and learning materials in the online student portal that will support the independent learning process. Participants will be exposed to varieties of case studies on risks, that will enable students to capture the essence of risk management and risk communication. The online learning includes continuous feedback from both the completed activities and tasks. The course instructor will guide and facilitate learning by introducing a designated platform for easy communication with the students. There will be two assessments; a case study to strengthen students’ understanding on risk and risk management, and secondly, developing a risk communication plan based on a risk analysis.

COURSE INSTRUCTOR

Ms. Marzura Abdul Malek is a Programme Director in the School of Media and Communication.  She specialised in public relations and communication, with more than 20 years experience in the corporate world. She was involved in several community projects both locally and internationally and has in-depth experience as an Advisor to Public Relations campaigns organised by students. Ms Marzura holds MBA from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia. She attended University of Grenoble and Nice University in France where she studied French. 

 

CRISIS MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION

SYNOPSIS

This MicroCreds course is designed for SMEs Directors, Administrative Managers, Human Resource Managers, executives and business owners. This course will cover stages in crisis, effective crisis communication and crisis management strategies. Participants are introduced to the theories and concepts in communication and identify the roles of communication during crises. The teaching pedagogy emphasises on student-centred learning with activities prepared to facilitate the understanding of this course. All given activities and tasks are expected to be completed on a weekly basis as the course moves from topic to topic. The self-directed learning approach for this online course comprise of asynchronous lectures, blended learning and learning materials in the student portal that will support the independent learning process. Participants will be exposed to varieties of case studies of recent crises to enable students capture the essence of crisis management and crisis communication. The online learning includes continuous feedback from both the completed activities and tasks. The course instructor will guide and facilitate learning by introducing a designated platform for easy communication with the students. There will be two assessments; a case study to strengthen students’ understanding during a crisis and secondly, the planning of a crisis communication plan in which students will be assessed on the application of the knowledge acquired during the course.
