The Doctor of Philosophy in Design Management is intended to promote the researcher/s to formulate a significant problem statement that relates to a broader research framework.
Shahmeena Labeeb won the Platinum award for the regional instalment of Asia Young Designer Summit (AYDA) 2017/18 for her project, ‘Plan Bee – A City Beekeeping Project’. Two other students from Taylor’s brought home the silver awards and two other made it to the finals during the Malaysian leg of AYDA 2017/18.
Yap Yoong Ruey bagged a Wood Pencil at D&AD 2017 for his entry ‘Hungry to Learn’ – a brief set by Pearson Education in the New Blood Category. The D&AD award is widely recognised in the global creative industry. The achievement is significant for Taylor’s University as the first Asian university to win at D&AD.
Chai Min Li, was crowned the Platinum Winner for the Interior Design Category of the regional instalment of Asia Young Designer Award (AYDA) 2016/17, beating 14 other countries in Asia, with her concept of “The Common Place: Regeneration of Pudu Market”, taking home the USD1, 000 prize.
The Design School received 13 awards at the competition. Six top prizes were for the Furniture, Sculpture and Design Category for Commercial and Residential Design; and two from the Inter College – Live Competition in Collage and Garis Fikir Degree Level Category.
The Design School participated in the Georgetown Festival 2019 'When Night Falls'. Taylor's students were selected amongst the 10 finalist. Their work has been projected onto the facade of Penang City Hall at Jalan Padang Kota Lama, Penang on 13th and 14th July 2019 with crowds of over 100,000 people throughout the 2-day event.
