The SHINE Award Programme is meant to help you achieve your personal and professional development goals. All active SHINE students will be exposed to a myriad of opportunities that would contribute to their holistic development, making them more future-ready and highly employable.

The SHINE Award is built around core themes that support students’ holistic growth beyond the classroom. These themes guide students to explore their personal strengths and values, build meaningful relationships and teamwork skills, and make a positive impact on the wider community. Together, they help students develop into well-rounded, future-ready individuals.

The SHINE Award recognises students for their active involvement in extra-curricular activities, known as SHINE Experiential Activities. It promotes personal growth, leadership, and meaningful contributions to society.

What types of activities count towards SHINE points?

What types of activities count towards SHINE points?

SHINE Experiential Activities include a wide range of student engagements grouped under five themes below. However, these lists of activities are not exhaustive, and recognised activities can include external engagements as long as they align with SHINE’s values and criteria.
 

  • Teamwork & Collaboration: Clubs and societies, peer support, project management.
  • Impactful Social Responsibility: Volunteering with NGOs, charity work, community service.
  • Relationship Building & Networking: Career readiness programmes, LinkedIn branding, internships, entrepreneurship.
  • Cultural Appreciation & Adaptation: Student exchange, mobility programmes, participating in international student hosting programmes.
  • Personal Achievements: Competitions, marathons, learning new skills or languages, public speaking.

How are SHINE points awarded?

Points are awarded based on your role, duration of involvement, prestige of the activity, and level of achievement. After completing an activity, students must submit a reflection and supporting evidence through the SHINE portal for validation.

How do I start earning SHINE points as a new student?

New students can begin by exploring SHINE activities listed on the SHINE portal or by joining activities organised by the Clubs and Societies in Taylor’s University. Once you participate in an activity, submit your reflection and supporting documents for validation. You can also attend SHINE briefings or connect with SHINE Ambassadors to learn how to get started.
