Taylor’s University, through its Clean Technology Impact Lab, affirmed its commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on its recent MOU signing with esteemed industry partners. Led by Professor David Asirvatham, the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Innovation and Technology, the event emphasised the university’s initiatives to redefine the future by integrating sustainability at its core.

A Vision Beyond Goals

"We, at Taylor's University, view the SDGs not merely as goals but as a commitment," remarked Professor Asirvatham. "Our unique initiative, Impact Labs, has been the torchbearer, guiding student efforts to transform the theoretical into tangible, impactful projects."

 

The ceremony echoed the unified will of diverse sectors and was attended by delegates from various organizations such as LESTARI, Dorsett Grand Subang, MNK Water Technology, Fire Fighters, Perunding Shanu, Sentrox Technics, and Zero Waste Earth Store. 

 

The event also highlighted the GREENPAS award presentation to Dorsett Grand Subang.  This conferment marks potential collaboration of Taylor’s and Dorsett Grand Subang. 

Merging Minds for a Greener World

Additionally, Dr. Sanjay Mahalingam conducted a session on ‘Green Mindfulness’ encouraging the merging of the realms of mindfulness and environmental consciousness. 

 

Dr. Praveena, Deputy Director of Deputy Director of the Clean Technology Impact Lab, also unveiled a pioneering initiative titled PERMINDA: Pemberdayaan Komuniti, Fostering Community Empowerment for a Cleaner Planet. Rooted in three pillars - waste to energy, the circular economy, and measurable outcomes - PERMINDA aspires to instill mindfulness in communities. The initiative aims to elevate waste awareness, shed light on the circular economy model, and ambitiously transform non-recyclable waste into energy.  Dr. Praveena appealed “We encourage everyone to join us in our commitment to advocate for waste-to-energy solutions and let’s foster mindful actions for a cleaner planet.”

 

Through the MOU signing, awarding ceremony, and the launch of PERMINDA, Taylor’s University emphasised its commitment to sustainability as well as its advocacy for holistic well-being through the Green Mindfulness session. The synergised efforts of environmental consciousness with mindfulness showcased its comprehensive approach to a sustainable future. Dr. Praveena expressed “This is a testament to the power of collaborative action, underpinned by mindfulness, to leave a transformative and lasting legacy for the future generation.”
