Important Considerations
Refund Policy and Financial Implications

Every student’s journey is unique, and there are many reasons you might consider leaving your current programme:

Discontinuing Your Studies Permanently
If you've made the decision to stop your academic journey at Taylor’s for good, programme withdrawal is the formal process to close your current enrolment.

Planning to Transfer to Another Institution
If you intend to continue your studies elsewhere, withdrawing from your current programme ensures a clean transition and allows you to request the necessary academic documents.

Facing Personal or Academic Challenges
Health, financial, or personal issues—along with academic difficulties—can affect your ability to continue. Withdrawing gives you space to pause and reconsider your next steps when the time is right.

You may apply to withdraw at any point during the semester, but the timing matters — especially for refund eligibility and academic record.

Financial impact

Financial impact

You may still be liable for tuition fees based on your withdrawal date. Refunds, if applicable, will follow the University’s fee refund policy. Outstanding balances must be settled before your withdrawal can be processed.

Implications on EPF/PTPTN or other sponsorships

Implications on EPF/PTPTN or other sponsorships

If you are using EPF funds, PTPTN loan, or are sponsored by an external body, your withdrawal may affect your eligibility or result in the need to repay disbursed funds. Some sponsors may also require a formal explanation or documentation for the withdrawal.

Visa implications for international students

Visa implications for international students

International students must comply with visa regulations. Withdrawing from your programme may lead to the cancellation of your student visa, requiring you to leave the country within a short timeframe. We recommend consulting the International Office before taking action.

Before you proceed with a withdrawal or change in enrolment, it's important to understand how it may affect your tuition fees and eligibility for a refund. The University has specific guidelines and timelines that determine whether you'll receive a full, partial, or no refund.

Refund eligibility

Refund eligibility

Whether you're eligible for a refund depends on when you submit your withdrawal application. Submitting early in the semester increases the likelihood of receiving a refund, while late applications may result in forfeiture of fees already paid. Refunds are typically only processed after all required steps (e.g., form submission, clearance, and approvals) are completed.

If you are an international student, you are required to consult the International Office (IO) for advice on Visa cancellation before submitting the withdrawal form to Campus Central. If you fail to do a proper cancellation before you leave Malaysia, there will be no refund to your International Security Deposit, and you may have difficulty entering Malaysia in the future.

Taylor’s will issue any applicable refund under the name of the parent / guardian / sponsor / student as declared in the application form.

For International Students

After your withdrawal is confirmed, your access to Taylor’s student systems—including your email, Campus Central Portal, MyTIMeS, and ReWIND—will be deactivated after a 30-day grace period. To avoid any inconvenience, be sure to:

  • Back up important emails, documents, and academic resources while you still have access.
  • Return any borrowed university equipment or library books.
  • Settle any outstanding dues to prevent delays or administrative issues.

If you have completed at least one (1) semester of a Taylor’s award programme, you may self-generate a partial academic transcript using the Self Service Document Printing function on the Campus Central Portal. This document can serve as proof of your academic progress—particularly useful if you intend to pursue studies at another institution, apply for jobs, or seek sponsorship opportunities.

Apart from generating your partial academic transcript, you might also want to download your course syllabus / module information, which is useful if you intend to pursue studies at another institution. The course syllabus is used to help the new institution assess whether the modules/subjects you’ve completed can be granted credit transfer or exemption.

It provides details such as:

  • The topics covered in each subject
  • Learning outcomes and objectives
  • Assessment methods (e.g. exams, assignments, projects)
  • Contact hours and credit value

With this information, the receiving institution can compare your previous coursework with their own curriculum and decide which modules/subjects can be recognised, so you don’t have to repeat similar modules/subjects.

You can locate your course syllabus / module information in the Programme Guide on the Campus Central Portal.

If you are an international student withdrawing from Taylor’s University to join another institution in Malaysia, you will need a Release Letter and an Attendance Report to apply for a new Student Pass. You can email the International Office (IO) at internationaloffice@taylors.edu.my, attaching the offer letter from your new institution, to request these documents.
