In a significant event marking the collaboration between government and academia, Taylor's University Lakeside Campus was honored to welcome Deputy Minister of Higher Education Malaysia, YB Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud. This visit underscored a mutual commitment to enhancing the landscape of higher education in Malaysia through innovation, technology, and sustainable practices. 

Collaborative Endeavor between Government and Academia

Upon his arrival, YB Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud was warmly greeted by the faculty, staff, and students of Taylor's University. The day's agenda began with a welcome note and a comprehensive corporate presentation by Professor Barry Winn, Vice Chancellor of Taylor's University, which set the stage for a dynamic academic discussion with key faculty members, including Professor Dr. Eddy Chong Siong Choy from the Faculty of Business and Law, Professor Dr. David Asirvatham from the Faculty of Innovation and Technology, and Professor Dr. P.T. Thomas from the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, among other distinguished executives and administrators. These discussions were pivotal in highlighting Taylor's University's strategic direction, innovative educational approaches, and its commitment to addressing contemporary challenges through academia.

A memorable moment of the visit was when Professor Barry Winn presented a token of appreciation to YB Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud, symbolising the gratitude and respect Taylor's University holds for the Deputy Minister's dedication to advancing higher education.

The visit also included an extensive campus tour, showcasing Taylor's Lakeside Campus's state-of-the-art facilities. Notable stops included the Taylor's Urban Farm, a testament to the university's commitment to food security and sustainability; the Taylor's University Vortex Extended Reality Lab, highlighting the university's pioneering efforts in immersive learning technologies; and Taylor's Mayamode, a co-working fashion studio that supports creative innovation in fashion design and garment making. YB Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud's firsthand engagement with the HoloLens in the Vortex Lab exemplified Taylor's University's commitment to providing immersive and interactive learning environments.

An especially heartwarming segment of the visit was the meeting with Sabahan students, reflecting Taylor's University's diverse and inclusive community. This interaction provided an opportunity for YB Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud to engage directly with the students, understanding their aspirations, experiences, and the impact of Taylor's University on their educational journey.
