Applying to Taylor’s University doesn’t have to be overwhelming. This guide walks Indian students through every stage—from eligibility and applications to visas.
Applying to universities can be stressful. The endless forms and documents, coupled with confusing deadlines, can make anyone’s head spin. And if you’re thinking about applying abroad, it can feel even more overwhelming.
If you’re from India and wondering what it’s like to apply to Taylor’s University, worry not—it’s not as complicated as it sounds. With a bit of careful preparation, you’ll find that completing your application to Taylor’s is entirely manageable.
That said, having some support along the way is always helpful. Let’s get you started on becoming part of the Taylor’s community, a place that welcomes diversity, celebrates individuality, and may even feel like a home away from home.
It helps to be prepared when stepping into something new. Before you start your application (and possibly panic halfway through), it’s good to know exactly what will be expected of you.
For most undergraduate programmes, Indian students who have completed Standard 12 (Higher Secondary Certificate) are eligible to apply. The required percentage may vary depending on your course, but it’s usually between 65% and 95% in at least two subjects.
If you’re planning to pursue postgraduate studies, you’ll need a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a minimum CGPA of around 2.7 or higher. Some programmes may also require an interview, a research proposal, or even a portfolio—especially if you’re applying for creative fields.
And of course, English proficiency is important. Taylor’s accepts IELTS, TOEFL, or MUET as valid proof of language proficiency. Generally, an IELTS score of 6.0 or above is sufficient. If your previous education was fully conducted in English, you can instead submit a medium of instruction letter from your school or university, saving time and paperwork—not to mention expenses.
The entire process is convenient and easy, as it’s conducted online. Once you’ve chosen your programme, you can find all the necessary details on Taylor’s official website. You can also reach out to Taylor’s Unibuddy ambassadors (current students who share their real experiences) or speak with a counsellor who can guide you through every step of the process.
Here’s a quick overview of the documents you’ll likely need to upload:
Once you’ve submitted your application, you’ll receive an email confirmation. If you meet the requirements, Taylor’s will send you either a Conditional Offer Letter (if you still need to submit certain documents) or a Final Offer Letter (if everything’s complete).
After you accept your offer, you’ll be guided on how to make your initial fee payment and apply for your student visa. This stage may seem intimidating, but Taylor’s has a dedicated International Student Services team to assist you throughout the entire process, from visa submission to medical screening, and even airport pickup upon arrival.
The visa application is processed through Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), and the team will help ensure all your documents are in order while reminding you of everything you need for a smooth and hassle-free arrival.
Finding a place to live is always a concern when moving to a new country (for both you and your parents). At Taylor’s, you have several on-campus options, such as U Residence and Ruemz. Taylor’s also provides accommodations at Waterfront Residence, managed by the Taylor’s Hostel Management. These are convenient, safe, and equipped with all the basic amenities you’ll need.
If you prefer living off-campus, there are also several nearby apartments and private accommodations, such as D’latour and DK Senza. These are within walking distance of the university, making the occasional morning when you oversleep much less stressful!
Moving to a new country is always a big step, but Malaysia’s culture makes it a little easier. You’ll find Indian food, groceries, temples, and festivals everywhere, and the diverse international student population at Taylor’s helps ease the transition.
Because Malaysia is so diverse, you’ll constantly discover new food, music, and cultural events. Many students also take short trips to explore nearby destinations like Penang, Melaka, Genting, or even Singapore.
On campus, you can join student clubs, cultural societies, volunteer opportunities, and academic associations that help you connect with others and build a sense of belonging. The Indian Cultural Society (ICS) celebrates familiar festivals like Diwali and Holi, making Taylor’s feel a little more like home.
If you’re wondering about the actual day-to-day cost of living, as I did, you’ll be glad to know that Malaysia is generally affordable, especially compared to places like the UK, the US, or Singapore.
Overall, your average monthly expenses will depend on your lifestyle, but most Indian students manage comfortably without feeling like they’re missing out.
Also, your weekends can be as chill or fun as you like. Students usually hang out at cafes, malls, local markets, and out and about in KL.
So, if you’ve been considering applying to Taylor’s, the time is now. Taylor’s is here to broaden your horizons and help you build lasting endeavours. You might just find yourself in a new country that feels a lot like home, but one filled with new people, experiences, opportunities, and, of course, food!
