An invitation to register for the convocation will be sent to your Taylor’s student email and personal email account (as recorded in our student database), approximately three (3) months prior to your convocation. This email will include:

  • The exact date of your ceremony
  • Registration instructions with payment details
  • Information on academic robe collection
  • Important deadlines and next steps

Registration to attend the convocation ceremony must be made via an online link and by the stipulated deadline, otherwise, you will be graduating in-absentia and no fee will be incurred. Graduands who graduated in-absentia are no longer allowed to register and attend the convocation of the same programme in the future.

You are entitled to two (2) complimentary guest tickets upon successful registration/application. Make travel or accommodation plans early if needed. The Graduate Tracer Study Survey, is an annual survey conducted by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to determine the status of graduates after completing their studies (especially within the first six (6) months after graduation). Kindly complete the Tracer Study before/latest by the day of your convocation. It is compulsory to complete the Tracer Study Survey in order to collect your certificate.

We understand that sometimes life gets in the way. If you’re unable to attend your upcoming convocation ceremony, you have the option to defer your attendance to the next scheduled ceremony.

    Email campuscentral@taylors.edu.my with valid reasons and supporting documents by the deadline mentioned in the email. All deferment requests are subject to approval.

    You’ll receive a confirmation email within three (3) working days. If it is approved, your name will be included in the next ceremony invite list.

  • You can only defer once. If you miss the next ceremony, you will graduate in absentia.
  • Your award will still be officially conferred on the original conferral date, even if you defer your attendance.
  • Your name will appear in the Convocation booklet of your actual cohort.

On your convocation day, please ensure you arrive early to register and collect your academic robe — remember to bring your NRIC/passport or Taylor’s Student ID.

 

You'll collect your academic robe right after registration. If you'd like to rent the robe for up to two (2) weeks after convocation, you can make arrangements with our Robing Agent, Ede & Ravenscroft. You shall adhere to a smart dress code specified below, failing which, you may not be allowed to attend the convocation ceremony. Before entering the hall, you must be dressed in the academic robes provided by the official Taylor’s vendor only.

There will be live-streaming and recording of the event for your keepsake. The link to the live-stream will be sent to your Taylor’s email at least two (2) weeks before the convocation, whereas the link to download the convocation ceremony video will be sent to you approximately six (6) weeks after the convocation.

Portrait & Stage Photography

Portrait studio photography services will be available for graduands and their family members who wish to sign up for a photography package at their own cost on convocation day. No reservation or prior appointment is required. Services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. An official photographer and videographer are appointed to take stage photographs of each graduand and the whole ceremony video. Members of the audience may be permitted to take photographs during the ceremony, but they are required to do so from their seats and NOT to move about the hall during the ceremony.

 

The robe and photography agent Ede & Ravenscroft will courier your stage photograph (including the studio photography package you have signed up, if any) as per your address information provided during the online registration, approximately six (6) to eight (8) weeks after the convocation.

Please return your academic robe by the stipulated time to avoid any late penalty fee imposed by the robing agent. Upon returning the academic robe you will be given an Academic Robe Returned Slip to collect your certificate.

After returning your robe, you may proceed to next venue for the Graduate Tracer Study Survey verification and to collect your certificate. Please bring your NRIC, passport, or Taylor’s Student ID for verification—certificates will only be released to the rightful owner. If you don’t have the required documents, you won’t be able to collect your certificate.

  • We offer courier delivery for both local and international addresses.

The convocation ceremony will usually be held in the month of January / February and June / July each year, at The Grand Hall, Taylor’s Lakeside Campus.

The Convocation ceremony is applicable for Diploma, Bachelor and Postgraduate programme students. You will receive a Letter of Award Conferment that states your allocated graduation ceremony after your eligibility to graduate has been approved by the relevant University’s Authority. ​​

The Convocation invitation email and information related to convocation registration will be sent to you via your Taylor’s email and personal email as per Taylor’s student records. You will need to submit your registration by the stipulated deadline. Please take note that late registration will not be entertained unless it is supported with a valid reason.​

Yes, a convocation fee will be incurred to cover the cost of academic gown hire (on the day of convocation), stage photography, convocation video and two (2) guest tickets. The information on how to make the required payment will be included in the email invitation. There will be no fee incurred if you choose not to attend the ceremony (graduate in absentia).

What is the dress code for the Ceremony?

For men, acceptable attire includes a long-sleeved shirt with a tie, a batik shirt, a suit, or traditional costume, paired with dark-coloured trousers and formal shoes. T-shirts, tank tops, jeans or denims, and slippers are strictly prohibited.


For ladies, appropriate attire includes a shirt or blouse with trousers, or a skirt or dress that is knee-length or longer. Traditional costume is also acceptable. Formal shoes are required, though stilettos and strappy heels are not encouraged for safety reasons. T-shirts, spaghetti-strap blouses, revealing tops, jeans or denims, sandals, and slippers are strictly prohibited.

 

It is recommended to wear an outfit with front buttons to help secure the academic hood, as it may otherwise slide off the shoulders.​

  1. Your guests are advised to be at the campus at least one (1) hour prior to the ceremony start time. They will be allowed to enter into The Grand Hall approximately 30 minutes prior to the ceremony.

What is Tracer Study and do I need to complete the survey?

The Graduate Tracer Study survey is an online graduate survey developed by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) to obtain information about graduates and to gauge graduates’ perception and level of satisfaction with the services and quality of education provided by the participating institutions. It is compulsory for all homegrown programmes students to complete the Tracer Study by the stipulated deadline​.

Yes, Ede & Ravenscroft (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is our official photographer for the convocation ceremony. A photography studio will be set up to provide convocation photography services for graduands and their parents / guests. You may sign up for a photograph package and make appropriate arrangement directly with the studio on the day of convocation.

You may authorise another person to collect your documents by sending an email request to campuscentral@taylors.edu.my. The authorised person must present their identity card and the Tracer Study acknowledgement slip during collection. Documents can be collected from Campus Central, Block A, Level 2, Taylor’s Lakeside Campus, starting from the next working day after the convocation ceremony.

Yes, we’ll be happy to arrange for your academic transcript and certificate to be sent to you by courier. Simply complete the courier request form. Please note that courier fees are to be borne by the graduand, and the courier charges will be shown in the form. While every effort is made to ensure safe delivery, Taylor’s is not responsible for documents lost or damaged in transit.
