FACILITIES

Proteomics and Genomics Facility

This facility allows students to learn the biological processes at the molecular level such as translation and transcription that affects cells.

Tissue Culture & Bio-imaging Facility

This facility houses the biohazard laminar flow, incubator for the maintenance of human cell lines and advanced microscopy equipment for imaging of cell morphology.

Sensory Laboratory

Sensory Laboratory is furnished with a preparation area, cooking facilities and an evaluation area with 5 individual booths equipped with web-based sensory and consumer research software.

Microbiology Laboratory

This laboratory supports research in food safety, infectious diseases and drug discovery and is equipped to identify unknown microorganisms through various microbiological assays

Food Analysis Facility

This facility allows the investigation of food chemistry and physical property such as measurement of moisture, refractive index, texture, viscosity, rheology and caloric content.

Chemical Analysis Facility

The facility provides routine chemical and biological sample analysis utilising a variety of sample introduction, separation, and ionisation techniques.

Food Processing Laboratory

This facility provides practical application of the theoretical concepts acquired, at the pilot plant scale covering beverage, bakery and meat processing lines.

Plant Tissue Culture Lab

This clean culture room allows one to carry out plant in vitro related work such as micropropagation, organogenesis, callus and protoplast related work as well as somatic embryogenesis. These allows development of skills and opportunities to establish clone lines, extract secondary metabolite and transformation work.
