The industry-recognised Bachelor of Biotechnology (Honours) programme is designed to provide you with a comprehensive education and training across agriculture, medical, and industrial biotechnology: three core areas driving scientific innovation.

 

Through our progressive curriculum, dive into fascinating topics such as molecular cloning, genome editing, cell tissue culture techniques, bioinformatics analysis, bioprocessing technologies, and research and development techniques and instrumentation. You'll also gain real-world experience through hands-on sessions, learning to apply classroom concepts in laboratory settings.

Effective 1 July 2025, a 6% Service Tax will be imposed on non-Malaysian citizens, applicable to all fees and charges, except International Security Deposit and EMGS application fees. Fees shown in the Fee Schedule are exclusive of the 6% Service Tax. The Service Tax rate and taxable fee components are subject to change as determined by government regulations.

As a student in our programme, you will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of essential components in the field of biotechnology. We will expose you to scientific principles and knowledge that serve as the foundation of this discipline. You will gain a deep understanding of the fundamental concepts and theories that drive advancements in biotechnology.

 

In addition, you will be introduced to bioinformatics technologies, which play a critical role in analysing and interpreting biological data. Through hands-on experiences and practical applications, you will develop the necessary skills to leverage computational tools and techniques for data analysis in the biotechnology field.

 

This programme is compatible with the new Taylor's Curriculum Framework that allows students to mix & match study modules.

This component aims to develop critical thinking, build up social intelligence and cultivate civic responsibility as well as broaden cultural knowledge. These consist of compulsory and nationally-mandated study modules required by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education.

Flexible Education

Flexible Education

The Flexible Education component offers students the flexibility to explore modules in a related or unrelated field, enhancing and complementing their primary major. This component allows students to broaden their knowledge and skills by selecting modules from the same or different schools within the university.

 

Flexible Education can take various forms, including free electives, extensions, minors, or even a second major. These options provide students with the opportunity to delve deeper into a specific area of interest or broaden their understanding by exploring a different field of study.

SPM / O-Level with Pre-U / Foundation

Pass SPM/O-level or equivalent with 5 credits in Mathematics and one science subject for entry with pre-university /foundation qualification. (Except for UEC)

SPM / O-Level with Diploma

Pass SPM with three (3) credits in Mathematics, one science subject and one any other subject for entry with Diploma qualification.

Pass STPM with min. of Grade C (GPA 2.00) in any two (2) subjects, or its equivalent

A Pass in UEC with min 5Bs including Mathematics and one Science subject. Candidates without a Grade B in Mathematics and one Science subject may be admitted if the candidate has a credit in Mathematics and one Science subject at SPM or equivalent level.
