In order to keep abreast with global trends and bridge the gap between academia and the industry, Department of Computing has developed a web of relationships with international technology companies and entrepreneurs. Through project-based learning, internship programmes, field trips, as well as events and activities our students develop out-of-the-box thinking.
As part of the School’s initiative to produce job-ready graduates, strong emphasis is placed on producing graduates who are not just academically sound but also well-equipped with the relevant soft skills and capabilities required to carve a successful career. Department of Computing provides various expert platforms that feature talks and lectures delivered by invited speakers from the industry as well as adjunct faculty members, who speak about the ICT industry and profession. We recognise the value of adjunct teaching to our students’ learning, as the adjunct faculty adds to the diversity of the classroom with their professional experience and expertise. Apart from strengthening the School’s teaching profile, these industry practitioners also provide students with an opportunity to interact with professionals in specialised fields to enhance their learning.
The IAP works closely with Department of Computing to ensure that the programmes provided are up-to-date and relevant with current IT industry practices and requirements. The IAP also assists in providing students with the opportunity for internships. Our programmes meet the rigorious standards of the Malaysia Software Testing Board (MSTB) due to our stringent entry requirements, comprehensive curriculum, students’ work and achievements, and qualified teaching faculty. The industry-wide recognition attached to these accreditations greatly enhances our students’ career opportunities and the quality of our teaching faculty. They also ease the pathway for our students to pursue a professional qualification or further their studies upon graduation.

This event is supported by IT professionals and consultants from various companies across Malaysia, and is a neutral platform for industry leaders to discuss trends that are shaping their profession. Such events provide opportunities for idea exchange among students and professionals within the industry.
Students have the opportunity to participate in annual gatherings organised by professional bodies, which are aimed at fostering close ties between students from various public and private institutions as well as industry members. Such events provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and discussion of current issues, and provide students with opportunities to meet and network with industry experts.
No amount of learning is complete without practical knowledge and experience on the job. Taylor’s Career Services Centre aims to provide students with the best internship and career placement options in the ICT industry. It serves to expose students to the real working environment, providing insights into the industry and helping them develop good values and characteristics for a successful career. In addition to offering job searches and interview preparation, the Career Services team also provides a full suite of activities to enhance students’ employment opportunities. Guest Lecture is a way of enriching our students with the latest from the industry.
