School of Medicine

Welcome to Taylor's School of Medicine, ranked among the world's top 550 for Medicine (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026). Our 5-year Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is fully recognised by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC), so when you graduate you can apply for provisional registration and begin housemanship, the first step to practising as a doctor in Malaysia (housemanship is open to Malaysian citizens only).

You will spend your first 2 years building a foundation in the medical sciences and clinical skills in our Anatomy and Pathology Lab and Clinical Skills Suite, then Years 3 to 5 at Taylor's Clinical School in Sungai Buloh, on clinical rotations at Hospital Sungai Buloh, our principal teaching hospital, with the option of a clinical elective overseas. For research careers, we also offer the Master of Science in Medical Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Science.

Associate Professor Dr Ganesh Ramachandran

Head of School, School of Medicine

Associate Professor Dr Ganesh Ramachandran is an experienced clinician and medical educator, practising as an obstetrician and gynaecologist since 1997 and holding teaching and leadership roles since 2013, specialising in antenatal care, labour room management, and office and benign gynaecology.

Holding a Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, he brings perspectives from collaborations with regulatory and professional bodies including the Malaysian Medical Council and the Asia Pacific Network of Medical Educators into his teaching and programme design, ensuring learning remains clinically grounded, professionally aligned, and patient-centred. He has received the Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang from the Ministry of Health Malaysia, an Education Excellence Award for Leadership, and recognition as Best Professor in Medicine by CMO Asia.

He believes students should graduate with not only knowledge and skills, but also the professional and personal qualities to practise medicine with fairness, equity, empathy, and compassion.

PROGRAMME DIRECTOR

Dr Mugilarasi Arasarethinam

Dr Mugilarasi practised medicine for 25 years before teaching, and holds the MRCP (UK) with a specialisation in internal medicine. She teaches clinical and communication skills, with a focus on humanising medicine and student wellbeing.

Dr Lim Su Yin

_{Programme Director, Medicine Undergraduate, Phase II}

Dr Lim spent 10 years as a Consultant Neurologist, specialising in neuroimaging and multiple sclerosis. She was appointed by the Ministry of Health to the development group for Malaysia's clinical practice guidelines on MS management.
