WHAT IS THE SHINE AWARD?

The SHINE Award is an award winning programme that recognises your achievements in acquiring and applying holistic capabilities (Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities (TGCs)) which gives you the advantage to be future-ready. It is complemented with self-directed and self-paced learning where you get to choose to participate in extra-curricular activities (SHINE Experiential Activities) that are meaningful to you. There are 3 types of SHINE Awards, the highest level being the SHINE Platinum Award, followed by the SHINE Gold Award and SHINE Silver Award.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ACHIEVING THE SHINE AWARD?

The SHINE Award helps in enhancing your employability where employers can make an informed decision during hiring. You will be able to showcase your TGCs and your extra effort to develop your graduate capabilities through the SHINE Experiential Activities and your contribution to society.

HOW DO I OBTAIN A SHINE AWARD?

The SHINE Award is integrated into the curriculum and is awarded based on 2 Levels:

  • 1st Level (Programme Learning Outcome (PLO) Score)
    • PLO Score is given once you have been assessed for your TGCs in the curriculum (academic modules).Using the PLO Score as a baseline, you can upgrade to a higher tier SHINE Award if you fulfil the criteria at the 2nd Level.

  • 2nd Level (Accumulation of SHINE Points and Upgrade Criteria)

SHINE Points are given when you complete a role recognised in the SHINE Experiential Activities Listing as it recognises your extra efforts to strengthen your TGCs and make a positive contribution to society through activities focusing on 4 main themes and 1 optional theme:

Accumulated SHINE Points and fulfilment of criteria can be used to upgrade to the next tier of SHINE Award using the PLO Attainment as a baseline. All approved activities will also be recorded in the Graduate Capabilities Attainment Transcript.

WHAT IS THE GRADUATE CAPABILITY ATTAINMENT TRANSCRIPT (G-CAT)?

The G-CAT provides evidence of your achievements in acquiring and applying TGCs through the Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs) attainment and SHINE Experiential Activities. The PLOs attainment indicates your achievements of the TGCs that have been embedded in the curriculum through PLOs, and are assessed in the respective modules. The SHINE Experiential Activities Listing recognises your extra effort to strengthen the TGCs and make positive contribution to society through SHINE Experiential activities.

WILL I STILL GET THE GRADUATE CAPABILITIES ATTAINMENT TRANSCRIPT EVEN IF I AM NOT ACTIVE IN SHINE EXPERIENTIAL ACTIVITIES?
