SHINE AWARD

The SHINE Award Programme is a voluntary programme which encourages student participation in 4 self-directed learning packages; Personal Development, People & Leadership, Professional Development, and Global Engagement.

The SHINE Portal is an e-Learning system developed for the SHINE Award Programme. The SHINE Portal is a website used by SHINE students to look for opportunities, and to upload reflections of their involvement in extra-curricular activities.

Students’ involvements are then formally recognized through the 2nd Transcript, which complements the academic transcript. The 2nd Transcript gives employers a snapshot of students’ achievements and involvements in activities. This brings significant value to hiring organisations as it provides the students’ potential productiveness and overall effectiveness. This gives students an edge in being employed.

SHINE BRIEFING

A briefing will be organised to educate students about the SHINE Award Programme and how to use the SHINE Portal to submit reflections of their achievements and involvement in extra-curricular activities. (LP1 - LP4)

SHINE REGISTRATION

Students who are keen to join SHINE Award Programme are required to complete the Life Skills Modules. Interested candidates can proceed to register.

PRE-REQUISITE TO SHINE 2.0

Life Skills is a unique programme designed by Taylor’s to equip first year undergraduates in Emotional Intelligence skills in order to help them adapt to university life and to prepare them for their future career.  

These two compulsory modules on Personal Competencies and Social Competencies are approved by the Ministry of Education (MoE) with 2 credits each.  Recognized for its curriculum design and innovative delivery, the programme won First Prize in the AKRI Award 2018 under Immersive Learning (F2F) category.  

Upon completion of Life Skills, students will then be able to sign up for the SHINE Award Programme, and showcase what they’ve learnt throughout their Life Skills classes, through their participation in extra-curricular activities on and off campus.

WHAT IS SHINE 2.0?

HOW CAN I JOIN THE SHINE AWARD PROGRAMME?

You can register via https://bit.ly/SAPREGISTRATION2019 . If you have any questions, do not hesitate to visit us at the SHINE Award Centre (Block C, Level 2).

IT IS MY FIRST TIME LOGGING INTO THE SHINE PORTAL AND I’M CLUELESS. WHAT DO I DO?

WHEN CAN I APPLY FOR THE SHINE AWARD AND SECOND TRANSCRIPT?

You can submit your request for the SHINE Award and 2nd Transcript once you are at the end of your final semester. If you are unable to meet the required criteria to receive a SHINE Award (at any stage); or should you require mentoring, please do not hesitate to contact sac@taylors.edu.my for us to assist you. 

WHEN WILL I BE RECEIVING THE SHINE AWARD AND 2ND TRANSCRIPT?

Once you have completed all the criteria need to receive the award and provide a link of your e-portfolio. The SHINE Award and 2nd Transcript will be presented to students during the yearly Student Development Recognition Ceremony. However, if you are not able to attend the ceremony, all SHINE award and 2nd Transcript requests will be processed and given within one (1) month of the request submission.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T MANAGE TO ACCUMLATE SUFFICIENT POINTS FOR THE SHINE AWARD?

If you are not able to accumulate sufficient SHINE Points to receive the SHINE Award, you will only get the 2nd Transcript for the activities you have participated in.
