Taylor’s University is proud to announce the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Leave a Nest Malaysia, a leader in knowledge manufacturing dedicated to fostering global technological innovation. This partnership with Leave a Nest aims to strengthen agriculture and food security efforts, focusing specifically on nutrition, modern farming techniques, and commercialisation research and development (R&D). This collaboration represents a significant step forward in tackling the pressing issues of food security and nutrition, particularly within the Malaysian context.

Strengthening Food Resilience

By pooling the expertise and resources of both institutions, this initiative will introduce innovative solutions aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, improving access to nutritious foods, and advancing sustainable farming practices.

 

Leave a Nest Malaysia (LVNS MY) contributes its extensive experience in driving technological advances and nurturing entrepreneurship within the scientific community. Through its networks and platforms, LVNS MY supports startups and research projects that promise significant societal impacts. As for Taylor’s University's Food Security and Nutrition Impact Lab, it is celebrated for an interdisciplinary approach in resolving complex societal challenges through research, education, and community engagement, striving to deliver practical insights and scalable solutions for community welfare both locally and globally.

The key areas of collaboration include:

 

  • Commercialisation Research and Development (R&D): Conducting joint research to develop innovative approaches that enhance agricultural productivity, optimise food distribution systems, and solve nutritional issues.
  • Knowledge Sharing and Capacity Building: Hosting workshops, seminars, and training to spread knowledge and enhance capabilities among stakeholders, including farmers, policymakers, and industry experts.
  • Community Outreach and Engagement: Working together on initiatives to heighten awareness of food security and nutrition, promote sustainable agriculture, and empower communities to act.

 

Professor Dr. P.T. Thomas, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences at Taylor’s University, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, saying, “At Taylor’s University, we are dedicated to utilising our research strengths and academic expertise to confront real-world challenges. This partnership with Leave a Nest Malaysia allows us to contribute towards sustainable solutions that will improve food security and nutritional outcomes.”

By merging our expertise and resources, we aim to spark innovation and drive beneficial changes for communities in Malaysia and beyond.”

 

The MoU signing ceremony, held on 24 February at Taylor’s University during the Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference in Malaysia 2024 under the theme “Tech-Powered Transformation for Malaysia’s Food Resilience”, was attended by representatives from both entities as well as key figures from the academic, governmental, and private sectors.
