The Centre for Future Learning ensures that learning and teaching at Taylor's is relevant, evidence-based, and consistently excellent. We work alongside the University, its Schools, and all academic staff to design curriculum, strengthen teaching, and bring advanced technology into the classroom for meaningful learning.

The Centre is currently organised into two functions. Curriculum and Educational Development leads institutional curriculum design and development, as well as professional development of academics in teaching and learning. Learning Innovation and Development champions technology-enhanced learning and pedagogical innovation within student learning.

The Centre is organised into two functions. Curriculum and Educational Development leads the design and review of programmes and the development of academic staff. Learning Innovation and Development leads the evaluation and responsible introduction of new approaches, including artificial intelligence, into Taylor's teaching.

Curriculum Design and Development

We support the design of new programmes, and the review of existing ones, to align with the Taylor's Curriculum Framework, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practice.

Policy and Review

We conduct periodic review on related academic policies, supporting continued strategic alignment, relevance and competitiveness of programmes offered

Innovative Pedagogical Practices

We promote excellent practice and innovations in student academic experiences and programme design, including modules and assessments, across Taylor’s faculties and schools.

Training

We organise and facilitate in-house professional training to enhance academic staff's teaching skills

Academic Conferences

We promote scholarship in teaching and learning among Taylor’s academic staff, via annual teaching and learning conferences.

Teaching Engagement Scale

We manage the Teaching Engagement Scale as a structured mechanism within the University for feedback and improvement of modules.

Digital Technology in Higher Education

We explore and implement emerging technologies including Agentic AI, XR, and immersive learning into the classroom for better educational experiences.

Advanced Learning Ecosystem

We leverage platforms and virtual systems such as myTIMeS, Noodle Factory, learning analytics, and learning intelligence capabilities to improve engagement, early intervention, and individual student success.

Virtual Learning Models

With AI Avatar videos, Hyflex learning and other evidence-based pedagogies, students are empowered to learn in a self-paced, personalised manner. We also oversee Open and Distance Learning across the institution.

Taylor’s approach to AI is grounded in the following guiding principles. Beyond our students, these principles are encouraged to be adopted across the Taylor’s community, providing a shared foundation for expectations and practice.

A published principle changes nothing until an academic can act on it in their own module. The Centre runs a continuing programme of workshops and structured development for teaching staff across every school, delivered in person and online, and open to academic staff at every stage of their career.

Gemini Educator Certification conducted by Google

Enhance teaching, research, and productivity with Google Gemini. This hands-on workshop builds practical AI skills for lesson planning, assessment, research, and workflow automation. To date, 258 academics have been trained, with 134 achieving certification.

FSLM Crafting Effective Module Learning Outcomes and Assessment Workshop

On 16 April 2026, the Curriculum Innovation and Development team ran a professional development workshop for 164 academics in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Leisure Management, to strengthen learning outcomes and assessment design skills.

FHMS Crafting Effective Module Learning Outcomes and Assessment Workshop

On 8th April 2026, the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences conducted a full-day professional development workshop focused on AI in Teaching, Learning and Assessment. The session included plenary sessions by external experts and hands-on workshops.

Learning to Work with the ‘Black Box’: Why Evaluative Judgement Matters in a Time of AI

In March 2026, Professor Dr Margaret Bearman from Deakin University, Australia, led a webinar exploring how academics can strengthen students’ evaluative judgement in an AI-mediated world.

Optimising Gen AI to Enhance Learning about Sustainable Development

This hybrid workshop, conducted by Professor Dr Diana Laurillard on 21 September 2025, aimed to support academics in designing teaching-learning activities and assessments with GenAI, to optimise student learning about ESD, across the curriculum.

In October 2024, Associate Professor Dr Lydia Foong, Director of Curriculum and Educational Development, and Dr Yoon Sook Jhee presented at the Assessment in Higher Education Conference in Manchester, UK.

Rethinking Assessment with the AI Assessment Scale

On 21 June 2024, Associate Professor Dr Mike Perkins from British University Vietnam shared research on AI, academic integrity, and the AI Assessment Scale, offering practical strategies for designing assessments that support learning and responsible AI use.

Gen AI Workshop for Staff 2024

On 13 June 2024, a total of 35 academics attended a workshop to redesign assessments integrated with Gen AI with the Curriculum Innovation and Development team.

Gen AI In Assessment Policy Consultative Session

In March 2024, Associate Professor Dr Lydia Foong and Associate Professor Dr Chee Leong led a collaborative session with over 50 academics to gather input on implementing academic policies related to Generative AI use.
