Cervical cancer remains a significant health challenge globally, especially in low- and middle-income countries. The World Health Organisation has issued a call for the global elimination of cervical cancer by 2030, with a focus on Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination, screening, and treatment.
In Malaysia, cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women aged 15 to 44, and it is largely preventable through vaccination and regular screening. However, challenges such as cultural stigmas, screening techniques, and lack of awareness hinder the progress of cervical cancer screening uptake.
Join us for an insightful panel featuring Dr Kavinash Loganathan, Research Coordinator at the National Cancer Society of Malaysia, and Professor Dr Chong Pei Pei, Director of the Digital Health and Medical Advancement Impact Lab at Taylor’s University, moderated by HPV awareness advocate Maggy Wang. They will delve into the current state of cervical cancer in Malaysia, local collaborative efforts to combat it, and the critical role of technology in improving cervical screening.
