Taylor’s University delivered an outstanding performance at XRjam FuturScape 2025, a national XR and AI innovation challenge that brought together young technologists from across Malaysia. Held from 24 to 26 October 2025, the hackathon encouraged students to design human-centred, accessible solutions that address real challenges faced by diverse communities. This year, Taylor’s students not only impressed the judges but also reaffirmed the university’s strength in cultivating future-ready digital creators.

Championing an Inclusive Future

Taylor’s emerged as a clear front-runner when Team The Goat, comprising Sim Hong Bing, Siew Yue Ying, and Chua Chi Shen, clinched the championship title with Mindspace, an Augmented Reality spatial companion created to support neurodivergent individuals who struggle with executive functioning. Their solution combines mixed-reality passthrough, spatial scanning, and AI-powered item tracking to guide users through everyday organisational tasks. By transforming routines into engaging visual workflows, the project demonstrates how empathetic design and emerging technologies can meaningfully ease mental load and help users reclaim confidence in their daily lives.

The university’s success continued with Team POWERPOINT, comprising Herish Kovalan (Leader), Soh Jing Shuen, Chin Yeat Hoong, and Syed Muhammad Umar Bin Syed Mohd Adeeb, which secured third place with its project, CardioSense. This innovative prototype integrates infrared-based health sensing with Conversational AI to deliver cardiovascular insights in an immersive XR environment. Users are guided through their health results by an AI avatar within a calming and supportive space, an approach intended to reduce the anxiety often associated with clinical assessments. The team’s work highlights how technology can improve health literacy and make wellbeing experiences more approachable for the public.

A Testament to Taylor’s Future-Ready Talent

Together, these achievements reflect Taylor’s commitment to nurturing students who innovate with purpose. Both winning projects demonstrate the university’s emphasis on grounding technological development in empathy, accessibility, and societal relevance. Throughout the event, students received guidance from academic mentors and industry professionals, allowing them to refine their technical skills while deepening their understanding of user experience and responsible innovation.

Taylor’s participation in XRjam FuturScape 2025 underscores the university’s growing role within Malaysia’s immersive technology ecosystem. As the country progresses towards a future shaped by XR, AI, and human-centred design, Taylor’s students are emerging as key contributors who prioritise inclusivity and meaningful impact. Their achievements at this national competition not only celebrate technical excellence but also signal a broader vision: a future where innovation is built for everyone, and where technology strengthens human connection rather than replacing it.
