As ASEAN’s women-led family businesses and its top cyber sentinels gathered under one roof, one truth emerged: true resilience demands clear governance, human-centered leadership, and the courage to experiment. Taylor’s Centre for Family Business (TCFB) is proud to be the conferences’ collaborating partner, and also to have led a strong delegation to both the Family Business Sustainability & Entrepreneurship Conference (FBSEC) followed by the Women in Security Conference (WISC) at CyberView Resort and Spa.

Women At The Helm

FBSEC opened the day with a “Breakfast Talk” by Ibu Nilamsari Shadewa, who set the tone by illustrating how core values like trust, stewardship and long-term vision steer women-led family enterprises. Shan Loy, Manager for Strategic Partnerships & Networking at TCFB then joined Dr Leilanie Mohd Nor (Group CEO of BinaPavo) in a plenary dialogue on “Policy & Infrastructure Support for Women-Led Family Businesses,” alongside Dato’ Frieda Mohd Pilus (former Chairwoman of Cempaka Education Group) and Dato’ Prof. Dr. Nik Maheran Nik Muhammad (former Deputy Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan); where they explored how targeted government incentives, streamlined regulations and dedicated incubators can empower women entrepreneurs. Drawing on her cross-industry and cross-generational experience, Shan Loy also shared her personal journey of resilience despite expectations which contributed to her inspiring growth into the woman she is today.

Wellbeing and Policy

Delegates also benefited from Datin Dr Leez Hassan’s session on “Finding Your Zen,” which offered strategies for managing the emotional challenges of family leadership, and from plenaries on harnessing inclusivity and sustainability as strategic levers and on scaling family firms from local foundations to regional impact. YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Women, Family & Community Development, arrived shortly after networking lunch to deliver a keynote address which underscored the vital role of policy in nurturing these ecosystems.

Gender-Diverse Security and Resilience

WISC then kicked off the afternoon with a keynote by YBhg Dato’ Sasikala Devi Subramaniam (Selangor’s former Deputy Chief of Police, and also one of ASEAN’s Top 30 Women in Security in 2024), who shared best-practice frameworks for resilience through mentorship, cross-agency collaboration and crisis simulations. In successive plenaries, women’s leadership in security was repositioned as necessary to complement male-dominated mindsets, gender-diverse teams could drive stronger decision-making and innovation, and how sustainable protection strategies must be rooted in clear vision, structured frameworks and continuous upskilling to safeguard assets and infrastructure against evolving cyber threats.

One Playbook : Governance & People

Together, both events reinforced a unified playbook of purpose-driven governance, human-centered leadership and a pilot-and-scale approach to build resilient organizations—whether rooted in family legacies or digital defense.
