Pioneering Mechatronics Tracks in Malaysia to Power Industry 4.0

Taylor's University introduces the first Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering with Honours in Malaysia to offer specialised tracks in Robotics Systems and Artificial intelligence (AI). This innovative four-year programme combines mechanical engineering, electronics, robotics, and AI, preparing graduates to lead the fast-growing Industry 4.0 sector.


In line with Malaysia’s National Policy on Industry 4.0, which stresses advancements across 12 key industries, this multidisciplinary programme equips graduates with the skills to drive technological innovations in critical fields. It focuses on robotics, automation, and AI, addressing global challenges in industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, aerospace, and automotive.

“With the global Mechatronics market projected to reach USD 2.25 billion by 2031, this programme equips our students not just to meet the demand for job-ready engineers, but strategically poised to shape the future of technological innovations driving Industry 4.0 globally. The programme places Taylor’s students in the heart of innovation,” said Professor Ts Dr Sim Yee Wai, Acting Executive Dean of the Faculty of Innovation & Technology, Taylor’s University.

Advancing Malaysia’s Engineering Talent

Accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Council, the programme offers a comprehensive curriculum that meets the highest international standards. Upon completion, graduates will be eligible to register with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, a signatory to the Washington Accord, and pursue careers as Professional Engineers.

Our graduates would not just adapt to change, they will drive it, accelerating Malaysia’s transformation into a digital-first nation.”

Real-World Impact through Industry Collaboration

In collaboration with global tech leaders like DJI Academy Malaysia and Unitree Robotics, the programme offers students early exposure to cutting-edge technologies through its in-house Engineering Undergraduates for Industrial Adoption (EUFORIA) & EUFORIA Type-Research (R) programmes. These programmes enable students to engage directly with industry partners from Year 2, ensuring they gain practical skills and research experience that positions them for high-demand roles in today’s competitive job market.

In addition to these hands-on learning opportunities, students will have access to multidisciplinary group projects and the Robotics Club, where they can apply their skills to real-world, cross-disciplinary projects. Students also have the option to pursue a fast-tracked Master’s degree in Mechatronics & Robotic Engineering through a 2+2 programme with the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, expanding their global educational experience.
