Taylor’s University has retained its position as the #1 private university in Southeast Asia for the sixth consecutive year, placing 32nd overall in the QS Asia University Rankings 2027.
The recognition comes as Taylor’s continues to strengthen its academic quality, research capabilities and international collaboration, with a focus on translating these efforts into meaningful learning experiences and graduate outcomes.
The rankings assess universities across a range of indicators, including Academic Reputation, Papers per Faculty and International Research Network. These areas remain central to Taylor’s ongoing development as it builds its academic community and expands opportunities for collaboration.
Professor Barry Winn, Vice-Chancellor and President of Taylor’s University, said the University’s priority remains the quality of education it provides and the opportunities it creates for students.
“Retaining our position as Southeast Asia’s leading private university for six consecutive years reflects the sustained efforts of our University community. We will continue to strengthen the quality of our teaching, research and partnerships, and ensure that these contribute to our students’ development.
“Our responsibility is to prepare students to navigate an evolving world with confidence and sound judgement. This means giving them opportunities to apply their knowledge, test their capabilities and learn through experience, supported by academics and industry practitioners who challenge them to do their best.”
Taylor’s students’ recent achievements on international platforms demonstrate how this approach translates into practice. At the 21st LAWASIA International Moot Competition, a team from Taylor’s School of Law and Governance emerged as champion, demonstrating legal research, advocacy and critical thinking skills in an international competitive setting.
Students from Taylor’s Culinary Institute also represented Malaysia at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, competing against young professionals from around the world. They received Medals for Excellence in Bakery and Cooking and achieved joint 13th place in Pâtisserie and Confectionery. These results reflect the contribution of specialised training, mentorship and practical experience in preparing students to perform against international standards.
Alongside professional development, Taylor’s creates opportunities for students to apply their learning to societal challenges. Through Taylor’s Impact Labs and more than 230 Social Impact Projects, students and academics work across disciplines and with external partners to address community needs. These experiences help students understand the wider implications of their work and the contribution they can make through their chosen fields.
Graduate outcomes remain another measure of the University’s educational approach. Taylor’s recorded a 100% graduate employment rate in the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia’s Graduate Tracer Study 2025, reflecting its continued emphasis on industry relevance and preparation for the workplace
