IELTS Academic is RM960 in Malaysia. If you need to retake a single skill, the IELTS One Skill Retake is RM580, while an Enquiry on Results re-mark costs RM450 and is refunded if your score increases in any section. We recommend checking the latest fees on the British Council website before booking.

The IELTS test at Taylor’s University is open to everyone, including Taylor’s students from any programme and members of the public. Intensive English students are registered directly by the School, while all other test takers can book their preferred test date with the British Council using the British Council booking page.

Taylor’s University currently offers IELTS Academic only, delivered on computer. If you require IELTS General Training, IELTS for UKVI or IELTS Life Skills, you can book the appropriate test directly at a British Council test centre.

In designated computer labs at Block C, Levels 7 and 8. Your room is confirmed by the British Council when you book.

The Speaking test is a live, one-to-one conversation with a British Council examiner, conducted via video call.

Bring the same identification document you used when booking your test. Malaysian citizens may use either a MyKad or passport, while non-Malaysians, Permanent Residents and Red IC holders must present a valid passport. Expired identification documents will not be accepted.

You may bring a transparent bottle of water into the test room. All other personal items, including mobile phones, electronic devices, food, watches, and your own pens or pencils, must be left outside. Pens will be provided by the test centre.

You will receive an email three days before your test confirming your start time. Please arrive promptly, as late arrivals may not be admitted. As part of the British Council’s security procedures, your photograph and fingerprint will be taken on arrival, and your photograph will appear on your Test Report Form.

Your IELTS results will be available in the Test Taker Portal within 1 to 5 days. Your electronic Test Report Form (e-TRF) can be downloaded 1 to 8 days after your test. Results are issued digitally, and the British Council no longer provides an additional paper Test Report Form.

Most organisations accept IELTS results for up to two years from the test date. Results older than this may only be considered if you can demonstrate that you have continued to use or improve your English. When planning your test, work backwards from your application deadline to make sure your results will still be valid when you need them.

Yes. There is no limit to how many times you can take IELTS, so you can simply book another test date if you would like to improve your score.

If you only need to improve one section, IELTS One Skill Retake allows you to retake just Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking instead of sitting the full test again. It is available after a computer-delivered IELTS test, must be taken within 60 days of your original test, and you can take one One Skill Retake for each full IELTS test. You will receive a new Test Report Form showing your updated score alongside the other three original scores.

If you believe your result does not reflect your performance, you can also request an Enquiry on Results within six weeks of your test date. The re-marking fee will be refunded if any of your section scores increase.

The British Council can arrange access requirements for candidates with disabilities or specific learning needs at no additional charge. If you require modified test materials or special arrangements, please contact the British Council at least eight weeks before your test, as supporting medical documentation may be required.
