Strengthening Academic Dialogue Between Malaysia and Jordan

The Ambassador was received by members of the university’s leadership team upon arrival on campus. Professor Barry Winn, Vice-Chancellor and President of Taylor’s University, delivered the welcome remarks, highlighting the importance of international partnerships in advancing education, research, and knowledge exchange in an increasingly interconnected world.

The visit continued with an institutional presentation introducing Taylor’s academic ecosystem, industry partnerships, and global engagement initiatives. Discussions explored potential areas of collaboration with Jordan, including academic partnerships, student mobility opportunities, and broader institutional exchanges that could deepen educational ties and foster long-term cooperation between both parties.

As part of the visit, a token of appreciation was presented to His Excellency, accompanied by a brief showcase of Taylor’s robotics initiatives at Block A. The demonstration featured both a robodog and humanoid robot, highlighting the application of robotics and automation within the university’s engineering ecosystem.

These technologies reflect the interdisciplinary foundations of mechatronics, where mechanical engineering, electronics, computing, and intelligent systems come together to design advanced robotic and automated solutions. Such areas form part of the broader engineering capabilities and programmes offered at Taylor’s University, including the Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering, which prepares students to develop technologies that support industries ranging from smart manufacturing to autonomous systems.

Experiencing Taylor’s Learning Environment and Campus Life

The programme concluded with a guided campus tour, providing His Excellency with a closer look at Taylor’s learning ecosystem and the environments where academic theory is translated into practical experience.

The tour began at Block A where the delegation passed through several key teaching spaces, including the HyFlex classroom, Architecture Studio, and Lecture Theatre 1. These facilities reflect Taylor’s approach to flexible, technology-enabled learning environments designed to support collaborative teaching, interdisciplinary exploration, and interactive learning experiences.

From there, the delegation visited the Trading Room, a specialised facility that allows students to engage directly with simulated financial markets using industry-standard trading platforms. The space mirrors real-world financial environments, enabling students to develop analytical and decision-making skills relevant to careers in finance and investment.

The visit continued through several of Taylor’s hospitality and culinary training venues, including Truffles, Thyme & Terragon, as well as Tangerine. These spaces form part of the university’s experiential learning model, where students refine professional skills within live operational settings that closely replicate industry environments.
